We cater for beginners who know nothing about photography and need advice on camera settings and want to learn more about photography and composition, to advanced photographers seeking the best photographs of their South African holiday.
We will get you to the best spots, to get the best shots!
If you love taking pictures and love to travel, our personalized photo tours with registered tour guides will take you to beautiful places to take beautiful photographs.
Our knowable tour guides are enthusiastic teachers, friendly with great sense of humour. Learn the fundamentals of photography and more about South African culture and history on a Photographic Tour with Cape Photographic Company.
Our motto at Cape Photographic Company is: “Learn while you play” and so you can have so much fun with your camera, like hiking up a mountain for a stunning view, standing under the stars at night, preparing a new recipe for the family, photographing a sports event, the intricate details of flowers or stalking wildlife.
That is why we created opportunities to do new, interesting, and fun things with your camera that you likely may not have otherwise done.
Given that photography has so many elements, the science of light, the technology of the camera and the creative artistic side, there is a lot to learn. So whatever your age, whatever type of camera you use, and whatever type of photography you enjoy, we have a combo deal perfect for you. If you are into landscapes then you will enjoy a hike on Cape Point in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, or a hike up Lions Head to photograph star trails.
For the budding chefs we have a cooking class to learn how to prepare a traditional Cape Malay Curry, and if you spend long hours in front of your computer editing with one cup of coffee after another, our Lightroom/ Photoshop combo will be very enjoyable. For the bird photographers we offer a session to improve your photography and for you to get the best out of your macro photography we spend a morning or afternoon at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town.
PHOTO TIPS AND ROAD TRIPS
We prefer to call these photo tours of ours “Photo Tip Road Trips” because that is what they really are. Road trips allow you to go at your own pace, removing the unnecessary stress that comes with strict departure times. We have a set itinerary with planned activities for each day. But, often as these trips evolves, our itineries change as we add or remove photo stops, depending on your special interest, the weather, the light, the time of day or as opportunities to photograph something interesting presents itself. We can change our itinerary at a moment’s notice if we find something better to photograph!
The great thing about our Photo Tip Road Trips are that every day is different. Tomorrow brings new landscapes, new towns, and new attractions to photograph. This is very exciting, because every day comes with new opportunities to learn and improve your photographic skills.
Everyone loves a good road trip and capturing the beauty and diversity of the country they are visiting with their cameras, not to mention the quirky farm stalls along the way where you can buy padkos like chicken pie, biltong and koeksisters.
Our Photo Tip Road Trips are perfect for the discerning traveller, no matter what camera they use or level of photographic skill. For those new to photography we offer assistance with camera settings and advise on composition. For the more advanced photographers, we will get you to the best spot, to get the best shot!
